This map is intended as a tool for those planning a hike along the Stockholm Archipelago Trail, whether it’s a day trip or a longer trek with overnight stays.

The trail is 270 kilometers long and consists of 20 separate sections across different islands. The map provides both an overview of the boat routes in the archipelago and detailed information about each section, including accommodation options, campsites, and other services such as shops, food services, toilets, and drinking water.

What makes this hiking trail unique is that boat transport is required between sections. This greatly enhances the overall experience but also requires some additional planning. For example, keep in mind that the North/South line only operates during the summer season (typically from mid-June to mid-August).

Many islands in the archipelago are fully or partially designated as nature reserves, where restrictions on camping and making fires apply. This usually means that camping and fires are only allowed in designated areas. These locations are marked with symbols on the map.

Outside of nature reserves, the Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten) applies. This means you are allowed to camp almost anywhere, as long as you pitch your tent on durable ground, keep a proper distance from the nearest house, and only stay for a night or two (maximum two nights) in the same spot. Also, whenever possible, use established and designated fire pits, and never light fires directly on bare rock or cliffs.

We always print our maps on a material called Tyvek. It is a synthetic fiber that makes the map completely insensitive to water and very tear-resistant. A tyvek map does not tear in the folds or lose color when you use it.
