The walk starts directly from Stockholm's subway and continues for a thousand kilometers through countryside, sea and large forest. The Sörmlandsleden takes you through a Swedish natural mosaic filled with adventure as well as silence and stillness. Some stages offer walks through small towns, others go through wilderness-like forest terrain and require careful planning. The vast majority of stages pass a swimmable coast or lake. You meet famous castles and a very rich cultural history in parts. The variety in the Sörmland landscape fascinates.

Most stages can be reached by public transport and most also have restaurants and accommodation within easy reach. Nature reserves and attractions are described, as well as locations of open shelters and water sources, as well as a wealth of tour tips.
