The mountains around the Riksgränsen, Abisko and Kebnekaise are the most popular and well-visited in the country. The area is appreciated by both newcomers and experienced mountain hikers for the possibilities of being able to be comfortable in the warmth of the cabin at the same time that real alpine challenges are right around the corner.

The author Fredrik Neregård has hiked in the area for over twenty years and has worked dedicatedly on this book for the past four years. The project, which has involved reconnoitering valley after valley, evaluating fords and tent sites, climbing peaks and photographing, has taken its time.

The book is illustrated with sections of real mountain maps and the fantastic pictures often show places that are rarely visited. The hope is that the book will be a reliable planning tool as well as inspiration to discover all that lies beyond the Kungsleden.
