This is a guide to family-friendly outdoor activities around Stockholm. You will get suggestions for reasonably long hikes, with or without a stroller, a guide to the open-air gardens around town, tips on exciting lookout mountains, scenic swimming spots, where skating rinks are usually plowed and where you can rent canoes.

The book is primarily aimed at families with children aged 0–7 years, but of course older children can also join the tours. Being out in nature with small children is fun but can be challenging at the same time. In addition to the tour suggestions, you will therefore also receive a number of smart tips and advice on how you can make your tours more rewarding for everyone involved.

Emma V Larsson is a freelance journalist and author who has written several acclaimed books about outdoor life for both children and adults. Jonas Westbom works with communications at the Scouts while he is a diligent Instagram profile with a focus on outdoor life with small and large children. For Calazo, they have previously written the book Friluftsliv med barn (with Cajsa Rännar).

The new edition of the book (2025) contains several new tours and now also every map in the book has a QR code to help you find your way around. Scan the code with the mobile camera and you can easily follow the tour suggestion on the phone.
