This greatly enhances the overall experience but also requires some additional planning. For example, keep in mind that the North\/South line only operates during the summer season (typically from mid-June to mid-August).\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003eMany islands in the archipelago are fully or partially designated as nature reserves, where restrictions on camping and making fires apply. This usually means that camping and fires are only allowed in designated areas. These locations are marked with symbols on the map.\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003eOutside of nature reserves, the Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten) applies. This means you are allowed to camp almost anywhere, as long as you pitch your tent on durable ground, keep a proper distance from the nearest house, and only stay for a night or two (maximum two nights) in the same spot. It is a synthetic fiber that makes the map completely insensitive to water and very tear-resistant.
